For the twentieth year, the Association of Universities Tech transfer Managers published, at the end of 2010, a report that contains many economic indicators related to the development of technology transfer (TT) in the country. These different indicators were established by a group of experts twenty years ago, with the goal of providing a clear vision of the reality of technology transfer landscape in the United States. This 2010 AUTM survey is gives the Office of Science & Technology of the French Consulate an opportunity to report quantitative data on the latest developments in technology transfer in the United States. At the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the OS&T takes the opportunity to talk about a dynamic team led by Dr Florence Ghrenassia, director of the Office of Tech Transfer and Licensing at Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP)
With a team of 12 people of whom 11 are women, the team was able to obtain conclusive results despite a challenging TT landscape in France:
- 100 patents was filed of which 50% licensed in the 2 years
- 10 M€ of total licensing revenues
- 30 startup companies created
This office brings innovation from “bedsides to bedsides” as its director explained us in her presentation during the 2011 AUTM meeting.
Since 1992, the Office of Technology Transfer, Licensing and Industrial Ventures (OTTLIV) has been protecting and managing innovations resulting from hospital care and clinical research performed by AP-HP departments, laboratories and teams (clinical practitioners, nursing staff, managers, etc.).
OTTLIV has created a central and unique contact point for establishing research collaborations involving AP-HP personnel.
OTTLIV hosts within industrial partnership platforms, hosts start-up incubators and development labs on AP-HP sites and privileges partnerships within institutes dedicated to innovation
